Masterclasses

MASTERCLASSES

Masterclasses are group classes in which students receive individual coaching in front of their peers, as well as a much-needed opportunities to perform in front of an audience. Each class may accommodate up to 12 participants and unlimited auditors. Classes run for approximately two and a half hours with a short break midway.

Tom holds regularly scheduled Masterclasses throughout his time in Ontario. Most often, classes are held Saturday and Sunday evenings in Hamilton, and Friday evenings in other cities. Additional classes are often scheduled as needed. Please be sure to check the website or call to confirm, as classes are subject to cancellation.

Due to the popularity of Vocalway’s Masterclasses, those wishing to participate MUST RESERVE A SPOT to be guaranteed coaching time at the Masterclass. Others will be accommodated on a “first come, first serve” basis.

Please note: out of common courtesy, recording of other singers is prohibited without their explicit consent. Masterclasses at Vocalway Studios are designed to be a safe learning environment for singers of all levels and interests. Those who are auditing and who are professionals in the performance industry are welcome, provided they are attending in a non-professional capacity. Soliciting, scouting, reviewing, recording, or any other professional activity on the premises is not welcome, and those who disregard this request will be asked to leave.

NEW in Hamilton!! Those who are interested will now have an opportunity to receive a video recording of their participation at Masterclasses:

1. Minimum fee is $2.00 if recordable disc is provided (8cm DVD-R or -RW)
2. A limited number of discs will be available on a first come, first serve basis for $5.00 (includes recording and disc)

Arrangements can also be made to have recordings transferred to create a video DVD recording that can play on most computers and DVD players.

CANADIAN MASTERCLASS FEES
Current students:
Any student who has a private lesson booked may participate in one Masterclass that month without charge. Anyone with two or more lessons booked may participate in two Masterclasses that particular month without charge. Students attending additional Masterclasses will be charged as a Class Participant or Auditor. Masterclass participation is non-transferable.

CLASS PARTICIPANT:
The Masterclass participation fee for singers who do not have a corresponding private lesson booked with Tom is $35 per Masterclass ($25 for Equity or ACTRA members).

AUDITOR:
The fee for those wishing to observe only is $10 UPON ENTRY ($8 for Equity or ACTRA members).

WHAT TO BRING:
• scores
• audio tape (recording machine is available)
• cash or cheque made out to Thomas Schilling
